Podcasts: The Four Core Beliefs of a Sex Addict

March 20, 2010

104 diagonal

Out of the Shadows by Dr. Patrick Carnes is a book that has helped a lot of people understand what’s going on inside the sex addict.  It’s a secular book, but it has been a very valuable resource to me as I have examined my own internal beliefs.  I know many guys that have gone through this book in their sexual addiction recovery groups.

On The 104 Podcast I have been sharing over the last 4 shows The Four Core Beliefs of the Sex Addict.  On each show I share how we can rewrite these core beliefs with God’s truth.  Give them a listen.  Each show is 10 minutes or less.

Transcripts for the shows can be found at www.104podcast.com

Just as info, Patrick Carnes does write towards a secular audience, and many who have rubbed shoulders with him are not sure of his faith. However, it is known that Dr. Patrick Carnes is “Catholic.” His most well known patient (that is, if we excuse Tiger Woods) and protege is Mark Laaser, founder of Faithful and True Ministries, which is largely Patrick Carnes’s material filtered through an overt and non-apologetic Christian paradigm.

Also, Out of the Shadows is a very technical book at times though it has some of the best explanations of the inner workings of a porn addict. But it is not an easy read and does require some mental thought plus any reflective thought that you want to do with it. It is not your typical self-help book.
